Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP)
The purpose of SBP is to provide an inflation-protected portion of retired pay (in the form
of an annuity) to eligible designated beneficiaries of military retirees at a reasonable cost.
Public Law 107-107 authorized active duty members who die on active duty, while in the
line of duty, participation in SBP even if they were not eligible for retirement at the time of
their death.  SBP, in conjunction with Social Security benefits can ensure that at least 55%
of your retired pay will go to your eligible beneficiaries.  Participation is voluntary, however,
the decision made by you and your spouse will have a profound effect on your family in the
years ahead.

VA Improves Housing Benefits for Severely Disabled

grants, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced on 4 January, 2008.
