The Transition Assistance Management  Program (TAMP) was established in November 1990 and requires all separating and retiring service members, both officer and enlisted to have access to permanent transition assistance services. Additionally, members who are being involuntarily separated (IVS) or involuntarily retired (IVR) also receive specific legislated transition benefits.
