The Ombudsman Program

Navy Family Ombudsmen are a critical communication link between the Commanding Officer and family members. Once appointed, they receive standardized Ombudsman Basic Training (OBT) which provides the basic knowledge and tools necessary to be an effective representative of the command and an advocate for family members.

Deployment Support Desk Guide

The Guide is intended to provide Fleet and Family Support Center staff with an orientation to deployment support programs. It is designed as a reference and training tool to be used in conjunction with DoD and DoN instructions, center-specific procedures, and training and supervision, in the overall delivery of deployment support programs.

Individual Augmentee Deployments

The Navy is moving towards incorporating IA deployments into regular sea/shore duty assignment rotations. This is being phased in over the next year. This means Sailors may detach from their current command and be assigned to the Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center or they may remain a part of their current command and return to it when they complete their IA tour.

Deployment Health & Family Readiness Library
DeploymentLINK web site understands the questions and concerns that often
arise before a servicemember deploys. To help you better prepare for your pending
deployment, this section includes such things as pre-deployment tips, pre-
deployment health assessments, deployment immunizations, travel and health
advisories throughout the world, and information on countries to which you may be deploying.

Fleet and Family Support Division.
The Fleet and Family Support Division provides support to Sailors, families and communities
by providing policy guidance, field support, resources, and information services to people in
need, their business partners, the Chain of Command and their field activities. They
accomplish this through planning, oversight, advocacy, and research.

LIFELines. The LIFELines Service Network provides online resources in areas such as
deployment readiness, family support, transition assistance and MWR.

Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Headquarters.
The Navy MWR administers a varied program of recreation, social and community support
activities on U.S. Navy facilities worldwide. Their mission is to provide quality support and
recreational services that contribute to the retention, readiness and mental, physical, and
emotional well-being of sailors and their families.

Mobilization & Demobilization Resource Guide

This Guide is designed to provide Guard and Reserve members with information that will
assist them in preparing for their military duties. Topics include: Presidential Executive
Orders, DoD Policy Documents, Pay and Allowances, Healthcare Options, Family Support
Resources, Financial Assistance, Demobilization, Reemployment Rights, Assistance for
Students and Small, and Business Owners.

Guard & Reserve Employer Registry Site
The immediate goal of this site is to increase the effectiveness of the Department of
Defense's employer outreach programs by identifying employers directly affected by DoD
policies and mobilizations. The Department will then be better able to assess actual
employer needs and identify possible incentives to encourage employer support for Reserve
participation

National Military Family Association, "The Voice for Military Families," is dedicated to
providing information to and representing the interests of family members of the uniformed
services on which our national security depends. The organization has provided this link
