Naval Leadership Development Programs
Here is the lineup for the enlisted portion of the new Navy leadership development programs. The first two courses are already in operation, while the last, for leading chiefs, will kick off in April 2006, along with reworked officer training for division officers and department heads.

• The First Line Leader Development Program normally is for E-4 and E-5 sailors eligible for or in leadership jobs such as work-center supervisor, flight line leader or crew leader. It consists of the Work Center Supervisor Leadership Course and these e-learning classes:

TEAM0171, Effective Team Building Strategies; 46006, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Problem Solving Fundamentals; TEAM0132, Project Team Communication Skills; COMM0322, Basic Presentation Structure; TEAM0144, Revving Up Your High Performance Team; PD0234, Dynamic Decision-making; and COMM0143, Teamwork and Emotional Intelligence.

• The Primary Leader Development Program typically is for E-5 and E-6 sailors who are eligible for or assigned to leaderships positions such as leading petty officer, squad leader, or assistant platoon commander. It consists of the Leading Petty Officer Leadership Course and these e-learning courses:

LEAD0146, Coaching for Performance; PD0236, Problem Solving and Decision Making in Groups LEAD0135, Establish and Maintain Authority; LEAD0147, Leading through Change; 9th House, Resolving Interpersonal Issue; COMM0503, The Negotiation Process; LEAD0148, The Leader as a Model; MGMT0262, The Personal Approach in Delegation; MGMT0115, A Manager's Primer for Ensuring Accountability; and HR0153, Business Ethics.

• The Advanced Leader Development Program typically is limited to E-7 sailors eligible for E-8 who are in or can hold senior enlisted leadership jobs such as division or department leading chief petty officers, operations chief, flight deck supervisor, and platoon commander. It consists of the Leading Chief Petty Officer Leadership Course and these e-learning courses:

COMM0191, Building Effective Interfunctional Relationships; STGY0404, Systems Archetypes; COMM0011, Writing with Intention; LEAD0124, Leadership and the Knowledge Worker; COMM0171, Professional Assertiveness; and MGMT0333, Overcoming Challenges of Change.

FOR THE RESERVE COMMUNITY:
To meet the increased demand for Leadership Courses, Region schedules are under review and being updated. To inquire about classes that may be scheduled in your area, contact your local Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC).   NOSC Quota Points of Contacts are posted on  NAVY KNOWLEDGE ONLINE, the Leadership Home Page, under “Need to Know”.  The reservations in Navlead.com have been transferred to quotas(seats) using the Enterprise Naval Training Reservation System (eNTRS) and automated email confirmations were sent to confirm the new quota.


Advancement Exam Strategy Guides
The new Advancement Exam Strategy Guides (AESG) are available and are a great tool for sailors to learn more about the advancement process and strategies for successful preparation for advancement exams.  To access, go to Navy Advancement Center at: https://www.advancement.cnet.navy.mil.  (IMPORTANT: You will need to log-in using your Navy Knowledge Online user ID and password.)

You can search by specific Rate and Paygrade for a strategy guide.  

These new information sources provide rate-specific and professional military knowledge (PMK) sample exams, practice questions, references, learning opportunities, and additional resources to help sailors better prepare for exam day.  The comprehensive, easy-to-follow tool includes strategies for preparing and taking the exam, information on the exam development process, and an overview of the Navy Enlisted Adevancement System (NEAS).

Tuition Assistance
The Navy's financial assistance program. It provides active duty personnel and some reserve personnel on active duty a percentage of the tuition costs for courses taken in an off-duty status at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical institution.
Rating and Degree Roadmaps
Rating Roadmaps identify the American Council on Education (ACE) recommended college credit for Navy training, and rating specific work experience across a Navy career in a specific rating.
The GI Bill Program
The PERS 352-G office is responsible for   policy on GI Bill Programs and providing information to Navy active duty and veteran personnel in regard to their educational entitlements.
STA-21 Commissioning Program
The STA-21 Commissioning Program is designed to allow superior active duty Sailors to receive a college education and become commissioned officers in the Unrestricted Line (URL), Special Duty Officer (Intelligence), Nurse Corps (NC), Supply Corps (SC), or Civil Engineer Corps (CEC).
